PAPER AND DIGITAL ARE THE SAME DATA
Whatever Elsa types here writes to the same two tables the passport forms write to — trial_preference_surveys and rotation_reflection_surveys. Saving again for the same child and sport overwrites that row rather than duplicating it, so a paper answer can be corrected, or replaced later if the family fills it in themselves.
